Jonas Wade papers, 1792-1821.

This collection contains the papers of Jonas Wade, covering the years 1792 to 1821. The papers include land deeds of property purchased by Wade in areas mostly confined to Essex and Union Counties in New Jersey, along with some land parcels located in Morris County. The real estate that Wade obtained possession of was from William Halsted, Halsted Coe, William Denman, David Ball, Joseph Bonner, Thomas Smith, Abraham Hutchings, Moses Smith, Mary Clark, Caleb Winans, and Daniel Runyon, and others. Also included in the papers are land deeds of other parties, such as Thomas Smith and Moses Wade, and span the years 1796 to 1807. Additionally, the papers contain land survey maps of real estate that Wade obtained throughout his life, dating from 1798 to 1821. These maps include properties in Elizabeth, Springfield, Union, and Chatham. The papers contain, too, a copy of the Last Will and Testament of Jonas Wade, dated July 15, 1816. This was the will that was executed upon Wade's death in 1819. His estate was divided amongst his son, Oliver, and his daughters Phebe Worts, Harriet Wade, Hannah Townley, Eliza Wade and Jane Wade, with Oliver acting as executor of the will.
